Introduction
Shift Sleep Planner (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.
- Sleep Plans: When you create sleep plans, they are stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences/local storage. Plans include:
- Plan name and creation date
- Your shift schedule (type, start/end times)
- Sleep windows (start/end times)
- Nap times and caffeine cutoffs
- Light exposure recommendations
- Personal notes you add to the plan
- Your rating of the plan (0-5 stars)
- Favorite status and last used date
- Notification enabled status
- Sleep Journal Entries (Premium): If you use the premium journal feature, your sleep quality ratings (1-5 stars), energy levels (1-5), symptoms, and personal notes are stored locally on your device
- App Preferences: Language selection (English/Spanish), time format (12h/24h), premium status, and app settings are stored locally on your device
- Backup Files (Premium): If you export backups, they are saved to your device storage and you control sharing/storage of these files
- Notification Preferences (Premium): If you enable smart notifications, your notification settings and schedules are stored locally on your device
- Home Screen Widgets (Coming in v1.1): When implemented, your latest sleep plan data will be shared with the widget extension (iOS App Groups/Android SharedPreferences) but will remain only on your device
- We do NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers
- We do NOT track your location
- We do NOT access your contacts, photos, or other personal files
- We do NOT use analytics or tracking services
- We do NOT share any data with third parties
All data is stored locally on your device only. Your sleep plans, journal entries, preferences, and settings never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to:
- Export a backup file (Premium feature): You control where to save and who to share the backup file with
- Share plan text: Using your device’s native share function (you choose the destination)
- Make in-app purchases: Handled securely by Apple App Store or Google Play Store
- Add to calendar: Using your device’s calendar app (you control which calendar)
Your data includes:
- Up to 3 free saved plans (or unlimited with Premium)
- Sleep quality journal entries with ratings and notes (Premium)
- Energy level predictions and insights (Premium)
- Access to 40+ expert shift templates (Premium)
- Ability to compare plans side-by-side (Premium)
- Notification schedules (Premium)
In-App Purchases
If you purchase premium features ($4.99 one-time purchase):
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play)
- We do not have access to your payment information
- Your purchase status is verified through the app store and stored locally on your device
- Premium unlocks 7 features: unlimited plans, sleep journal, energy predictions, 40+ expert templates, plan comparison, backups, and smart notifications
- All premium data (journal entries, comparisons, backups) remains stored locally on your device
- Please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy or Google’s Privacy Policy for information about how they handle payment data
Premium Features Data
When you use premium features, the following data is stored locally only:
- Unlimited Plans: All saved plans beyond the 3 free plans
- Sleep Journal: Your sleep quality ratings, energy levels, symptoms, and notes
- Energy Predictions: Calculated predictions based on your shift schedule (no external data)
- Templates: Access to 40+ expert shift templates (no browsing history stored)
- Comparisons: Ability to compare plans side-by-side (no comparison history stored)
- Backups: Export/import files you create from your data
- Notifications: Your notification preferences and schedules
Data Security
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- You are responsible for securing your device (passcode, biometrics, etc.)
- If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed
- We recommend using the Premium backup/export feature to preserve your plans and journal entries
- Backup files are stored on your device or cloud storage of your choice (iCloud, Google Drive, etc.) based on where you save them
- No data is transmitted over the internet (except App Store purchase verification)
- Your sleep journal entries and personal notes remain completely private on your device
Children’s Privacy
This app is intended for users aged 13 years and older. Our app does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app is designed for working adults managing shift schedules. If you are under 13, please do not use this app.
Medical Disclaimer
IMPORTANT: This app is a planning tool, NOT medical advice. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition. Always consult healthcare professionals for medical decisions.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy.
Data Protection Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your data:
- Right to Access: Since all data is local, you can access it anytime within the app (view your plans, journal entries, and settings)
- Right to Deletion: Simply delete the app to remove all stored data, or delete individual plans/journal entries within the app
- Right to Export (Premium): Use the app’s export backup feature to create a JSON file of all your data
- Right to Portability (Premium): Exported backup files are in a standard JSON format and can be imported back into the app
- Right to Rectification: Edit your plans, journal entries, and settings directly within the app at any time
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services and packages:
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For in-app purchases (subject to their privacy policies)
- Local Notifications (Premium): If you enable smart notification features, the app schedules local notifications on your device using Flutter Local Notifications package (no data sent externally)
- Calendar Integration: If you choose to add a plan to your calendar, the app uses the Add 2 Calendar package to interface with your device’s native calendar app (you control permissions)
- File System Access: If you export/import backups, the app uses the File Picker package to access your device’s file system (you control file location)
- Share Function: When sharing plan text, the app uses the Share Plus package to interface with your device’s native share menu (you choose the destination)
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used
- No cloud services or external servers are used
- All packages used are standard Flutter libraries that operate locally on your device
Governing Law
This Privacy Policy and any disputes arising from your use of this app shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
